An area of Walnut Creek School District property is now a nature preserve and access point to the adjoining Shell Ridge Open Space Area which is under the auspices of the City of Walnut Creek. Fossils of sea shore dwellers in the old quarry rocks reveal its geologic history as the edge of a sea. Here in the Mt Diablo foothills we celebrate California’s cultural and natural history.
I’ve developed this informal botanic garden as a nature sanctuary and research site as well as an outdoor classroom teaching regenerative gardening practices, stewardship, and pure enjoyment of nature’s richness.
