Welcome to My Blog

On this page I will be sharing my thoughts on ecology-based gardening. Included will be writings on how thoughtful gardeners can help reverse the damage to ecosystems and mitigate the impact of climate change and still enjoy the pleasures, insights and sustenance gardening can bring. In addition to my own thoughts, I intend to feature the good work of others - excellent new books, innovative programs, conferences and tours. I also intend to mention developments in getting kids out of the classroom for serious, heartfelt experiences with nature – what needs to be done and what is actually happening in response to this concern.

I hope those of you who like my philosophy will use mountain mama blog page as a resource. I enjoy establishing relationships and am eager to read your responses to what I share here. Besides connecting like-minded souls I hope to start conversations and foster collaboration for change. While people say I am tireless in pursuit of my passions, Greta and I can’t save the world by ourselves. I do enjoy writing and advocating for what I believe in and this is where I will share those passions.

I dwell in possibilities and respect different viewpoints that are substantiated. Perhaps I can, through my half a century of experiences, help you realize your goals and make my audience aware of them. Or, maybe I can engage you in furthering my interests in water conservation seed-saving, gardening with natives, and outright bans on toxic chemical use. I would certainly be open to receiving help with my climate change resistance garden. It needs your help in the realms of maintenance, interpretation, art and science. To get things rolling my first post will be the vision I have for this climate resistance garden currently known as the garden.
